Los profesores Armando J Taveras-Cruz y Miguel Aybar-Mejía del Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo, INTEC participarán en la Conference ICSMARTGRID 2024 12th INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SMART GRID , Setúbal-Portugal en donde van a presentar la conferencia titulada: Differential adaptive protection proposal to interconnect isolated microgrid to the primary electric grid: A case study in the Pedernales province en colaboración con los profesores de la red RIBIERSE_Cyted Dr. Fabio Andrade de la University of Puerto Rico; el Dr. Carlos R. Baier de la University of Talca y el Dr. Jesús C. Hernandez de la University of Jaén.
Summary: Differential adaptive protections make the electrical microgrid power system more resilient and flexible, maintaining enough energy supply. The paper compares the behavior and suitability of distributed renewable energy resources, battery storage, and the connection to the main national electric grid for the Dominican Republic's Pedernales province distribution network as a microgrid to conventional differential protections under multiple fault conditions. Knowing how important electrical protections are in low- and high-voltage microgrid power systems makes the above intriguing. We will also examine frequency stability in the scenarios' many failures. PowerFactory DIgSILENT will simulate grid infrastructure. Compared to standard differential protection, the differential adaptive protection approach improved grid stability and response time by over 10 times.
